Tetris-Grade Loading
How a POD or rental truck is loaded matters more than people realize. Done right: less damage in transit, fewer PODs needed, no shifting on the highway. Done wrong: broken furniture, scratched walls, having to pay for an extra container. We've loaded thousands of containers; we know how to make them count.
Hourly Billing
Pay for what you actually need. No flat-rate markup, no minimums beyond a 2-hour booking minimum. Most apartment loads finish in 2-3 hours; a 3-bedroom home POD load is usually 3-5 hours. We bill in 15-minute increments after the first hour.
Services We Provide as Labor-Only
- POD / U-Box / 1-800-PACK-RAT loadingWe arrive at your home, load your portable container with your stuff, leave. You handle the container company's pickup.
- POD / U-Box unloading at destinationContainer drops at your new place; we arrive, unload, place furniture in rooms. Often a separate booking from the loading day.
- U-Haul / Penske / Budget rental truck loadingYou rent the truck and drive it; we load it efficiently so you don't lose half the cab to bad packing.
- Rental truck unloading at destinationYou drive the truck, we unload at the new place. Common pattern for cross-state moves where you save money by driving yourself.
- Personal trailer loadingFamily lent you a truck and trailer? We'll load it for the drive.
- Cross-loading (truck-to-truck or POD-to-POD)Sometimes a container is the wrong size or the storage facility wants stuff transferred. We handle the swap.
- Heavy-item-only laborYou've already moved most of the small stuff yourself; you just need help with the piano, the gun safe, the upright freezer, the sectional. Hourly minimum applies.
- Furniture rearrangement (no truck)Just need help moving heavy stuff around inside the house? Same hourly rate. Think: living room reconfiguration, moving a bedroom set to a different room, getting stuff out of an attic.
When Labor-Only Makes Sense
- • You're moving cross-country and driving the truck yourself — saves hundreds vs. full-service interstate moves; you just need help loading and unloading at each end.
- • You're using PODS or a similar portable container — they don't provide labor; you have to find your own.
- • You've got friends bailing last-minute — happens often the day before a move. Hire pros instead of carrying everything yourself.
- • You're older, injured, or just don't want to do it — no judgment. Hourly labor is cheaper than chiropractor visits.
- • You're on a budget — labor-only is the cheapest professional moving option. Renting a U-Haul + 3 hours of our crew is often half the cost of a full-service local move.
